As you'll notice all of these images are quite different. I was playing with different lights and varied edits. Personally I find photographing Queen Annes Lace to be one of the most fun flowers there is! I love all the white and how it works against the background colors.
See the plentiful bokeh in the photo above? It's all created from shooting first thing in the morning when the sun is shining on the sparkling dew of a hundred other QAL flowers in the background. First I set my camera on Macro or Super Macro, then squat down and focus on the flower. I continue to move around a bit until the sparkle begins to show itself. Click, click, click. Then I hope for something beautiful!

Mixing a little pink and white is always nice.
Lately I notice many of the QAL are turning brown. A sure sign August is waning. However, the fresh white flowers are still plentiful.
It seems my summers are never quite as exciting as I think they'll be, including this one. I start out with grand plans but somehow the days just seem to slip through my fingers. Does that happen to you?
No matter how many times I photographed Queen Annes Lace this summer it would be one to few.

Here up north the summe never came, 4 degrees celsius was a every day temerature, that is not summer!
Now we have had fog for 3 days, all the way from the mountain almoust in to the house it felt like.

Brave with this one. I find white flowers horridly difficult to photograph.
It's funny, but every time I see them, all I think about is my mom warning us to stay away from them as they held chiggers...lol! So pretty through your lens Sharon.
Beautiful photos! Summer has flown by once again. The mornings are getting cooler and the plants are starting to show signs of wear. That's one of my favorite things about New Hampshire, the changing seasons. Have a Wonderful Day.

A question for you, my lady!
IS or IS NOT the Queen Anne's lace a weed-flower? I love QAL because they never fail to remind me of grandma's house in Maine, which was on the edge of a woods so there was lots of QAL around. I sort of want to plant some at my house so I can enjoy that reminder every time I look outside, but are my neighbors going to think I am mental for planting a weed?
I don't care if they're a bit gangly looking half the time, I like 'em.

Where I live Queen Annes Lace IS considered a weed. It grows everywhere here but I love it! I think there are a lot of flowers that end up in the garden that are considered weeds someplace else. However, I did a google search and noticed you can buy seeds online so there ya go!

I LOVE your blog. I lived in New Hampshire about 5 years ago and the biggest mistake we made was moving to Florida! We're moving back in 8 months but your pictures make it hard to wait. I just want to pack up and leave now. Keep up the great work and beautiful pictures.
