Yesterday Brent and I took the day all to ourselves. With life's hectic schedule constantly controlling our days, it was nice to take a much needed break!
The first town we stopped in was Wolfeboro, NH. The Oldest Resort Town In America ... or so they claim. It's a very touristy area with plenty of small quaint shops to spend your money in.
I thought this building was adorable! It's called the Wolfeboro Station yet there are no train tracks in sight, so I'm not sure if the tracks were ripped up years ago, or what.
I am assuming this is the old spelling of the town.You can view the full front of the building HERE, though it's not my picture.
Something we noticed all over town ... Pumpkin People! I only took pictures of a few. This particular display was my favorite : )
Right after we parked I ran down to the dock in hopes of getting a good picture of the Mount Washington boat as it pulled away. For a big boat it sure is quick! If we had been a little earlier we could have taken a ride, but we didn't plan anything, which was nice.
Here I am sitting on the dock after we finished eating Pumpkin Muffins from Dunkin Donuts. Mmmmm, good! They had benches to sit on but the wood felt nice and warm. The temps were in the 60's and the sun felt warm, so it was a perfect day.
These Viking Pumpkin People were located in the park overlooking Lake Winnipesaukee. Who ever made them did a really nice job!

No pumpkins here but they were still cute.
I have to confess, I wasn't feeling like taking pictures as I mostly just wanted to relax and enjoy the day, so what pictures I did get for scenery aren't that great. There were certainly prettier scenes than this!

Covered Bridge No. 45 ... that's what the sign said that led us to Durgin, Bridge in Sandwich, NH.
Freshets: A sudden overflow of a stream resulting from a heavy rain or a thaw.
We had hoped to have a Sandwich in Sandwich but all we could find were back roads. No restaurant here!
Can you imagine this bridge just after a snow storm? It must be gorgeous! There was a dilapidated old house adjacent to the bridge. At least they have a gorgeous view.

More scenery as we headed towards Tamworth, NH
After many years of driving past The Yankee Smokehouse restaurant in West Ossipee, NH, we finally stopped in for lunch. It did NOT disappoint!
Brent had a Pulled Pork sandwich with BBQ Beans, while I ordered a Pulled Chicken Sandwich with Sweet Potato Fries. The food and service were excellent!
The decor is basic, but we've driven by on a week-end and seen a long line outside. I guess the food speaks for itself.
And the prettiest shot of the day ... Madbury Reservoir overlooking the dam.
Wish you could be here to enjoy some of the sights and smells of New England with me!
And I thought we had a lot of snow! These photo's weren't taken in the same exact location, but you get the idea.
This is a new sign. It wasn't there in the Fall. Since we were legal, we crossed the bridge. The girls didn't care for that too much.

This was a sign we saw several times posted on tree's. I've been up north a lot but I've never seen this before! What the heck are Bear Dogs? I'm assuming they hunt bears?
