Groundhog Day

My husband just woke up and came into the kitchen and said, "It's like Groundhog Day. Every day I wake up it's just the same"

What he means is that it's either raining or foggy every single day lately. Luckily Mother Nature gave us a reprieve for Easter, but besides that it's been rather miserable. Supposedly we will see temps in the mid 70's today with partial sunshine. One can only hope! Especially since the kids and my husband are on vacation.

In the meantime one has to work with what one has been given, so that's what I've been doing. Fog it is, again.

No, that's not the moon. It's the sun coming up through foggy clouds. Something you don't see to often.

My husband loves this railroad shot. So much so that he asked me to print it so he can hang it in his office at work. He likes minimalism black and white so this image fits him perfectly.

When I turned to look down the tracks going the other way there happened to be a deer standing right there! I quickly raised my camera and tried to get the shot (which is quite blurry) but the deer jumped and started heading up the embankment. See it on the left? I sat waiting because where there's one deer there has to be more. Nothing.

My husbands other favorite photo he wants printed for work. I have to say it was quite beautiful standing there looking out over the bay. I thought this photo almost had an Ansel Adams feel. Okay, not really, but kinda. Maybe? Just a little?

Lily, waiting rather impatiently. She does NOT like being left alone in the car but I had to bring her with me since it was 6:15 am when I left the house. If I leave her behind she'll bark her head off at me, waking everyone up. LOL!

Fog, it's a beautiful thing

I swear I could photograph the beach every single day of the year.

Sun, rain, fog, snow, and come what may it's forever changing.

Sweet little pond I drive past everyday on my way to work. It sits just across the street from the beach. Check out the little Eastern Pheobe perched on the old Cattails down in front. First one I've seen this year and it made me smile : )

Love this bird house. Love it.

It wasn't until I was about done working on this photo that I realized I had captured a tender moment on the rocks.

I should be working at the beach for a couple more weeks so it will give me more time to photograph dogs, people, waves, sunshine, gulls, and plenty of ocean side beauty.

Foggy morning in Rye

These photos were taken on a particularly foggy morning last June of 2009. My daughter and I had decided to go to the beach, early, and take a long walk. On our way home we stopped to walk on the rocks near some of the mansions.

 

When I was a kid I had heard this was the Governors Mansion. Whether or not that’s true I don’t know, but from what someone else told me who lived nearby, I do believe it’s privately owned now.

 

Just your average Mockingbird hanging out by the beach, singing up a storm!

 

This home had a sign out in front for a Garden Tour from 10-3. It would have been nice to attend I but we were heading home and I really needed a shower.

 

And of course I can never resist a Robin, no matter where I am. They’re such awesome birds with great character!

 

Though this wasn’t taken on the same morning my daughter and I were were at the beach, it was taken at the same spot. I couldn’t just leave you hanging without even one ocean view shot. 

All in all, a great morning!

More Roses on the River

Phew! Where did the time go? I had planned on posting this just a day or two after the original Roses on the River, but that didn't happen. I'm so in awe by those of you who post daily, and work. I don't know how you do it.

A slightly different focus from the photo in my last post. In this shot you can see the old mills a little better. For the most part they've been turned into condos, but there is still a couple business' located inside one of them.

Since it was early in the morning, plenty of birds were hanging about. Herons are always a favorite of mine.

Now these guys, I don't know where they came from. I do believe they're domestic Geese so where they go in the winter I have no idea but they weren't to afraid of people.

For the most part they just stood there and looked at me while I kept shooting.

Within a minute or two it was back to standing on one leg, tucking their heads under their wings, and taking a nap. Life on the river in the morning seems pretty relaxing.

What are your plans for Memorial Day?
My younger daughter and I will be heading out to New Castle to hang out with friends. It's supposed to be a great day here in New Hampshire and we're going to enjoy it!

Roses on the river

This past week-end I woke up one morning to a wonderful fog. I can't remember if it was Saturday or Sunday ... they all blend together lately.


Anyway, it was a great morning for photography.

The wild roses smell sweet and pungent at the same time. A welcome flower that will last well into the early fall.

A little morning mist lay all around

Can you think of a better way to spend a peaceful, warm morning? It was early so there were only a couple other people in the area. Plenty of Herons, ducks, Gulls, and Cormorants to be found though!
