I've had the good fortune of working on and off at an Inn in York Harbor, Maine. Usually I'm painting one of the guest rooms but the last time I worked there I worked in the owners apartment. There are large windows looking over the harbor and it's hard to concentrate on painting when all I want to do is sit down and stare out at the water. Of course it's a tiny harbor, but charming nonetheless.
*All pictures were taken last winter (2007-2008) with my older Fujifilm s700 camera
I can only imagine sitting in that little gazebo over there with a glass of lemonade on a warm day watching the boats come and go. Sweet serenity.
Close by is a nice little inlet I've enjoyed going to on a Summer evening. For some reason I had never really paid attention to this sign before.
If I had, I would have taken this stroll . . .
The Cliff Path winds along the rocks in front of these beautiful homes. Of course I said I would take that walk last Summer, but somehow there never seems to be enough time to do it all.
Thought you might like a view of the fancy, New England style restrooms, you know ... just in case ; )

Hi Sharon,
Wow, small world. My husband stayed at the York Harbor Inn two winters ago. We loved it.The inn was great and the only thing to do there in January is to eat or hit all the junque and antique stores which we did. I'm sure we will stay at the Inn again some time.
We are big Ogunquit fans and usually go there every year.

Hi Sue,
Thank you for stopping by! Actually I wasn't at the York Harbor Inn. I was working at the Jay Edwards Harborside Inn.
Yeah, I can't imagine there is much to do there in January besides rest, relax, and eat. Most of the shops probably weren't even open. It's such a beautiful place in the summer though. I love the clean family feel of York, unlike Hampton Beach.

Sharon, such gorgeous photos and bravo for showing New England as wonderfully as you did. I so miss that area. I was there this past September and can't wait to go back. I have never seen it in winter and after seeing your photos I am tempted to go up there just to see some of that myself.
Love the swim at your own risk photo. HA!
You've captured the beauty of winter in New England. I love Maine even in the winter. Such a beautiful pastel colored sky.
I have been to York Harbor several times. These beautiful photos make me long for Maine and New Hampshire. One day soon or I can dream!
The 1st winter we were married my husband and I decided to go to York Harbor for an overnight stay because a Nor'easter was predicted and we wanted to watch it come in over the ocean. During the night the wind had shifted and next morning it was 45 degrees with thick, pea soup fog. We walked along the Cliff Path listening to the fog horns in the distance and enjoying the solitude. This post brought back those memories. Thanks. -Sandy
You make winter look beautiful, Sharon!
Stunning shots Shar. I wouldn't swim there in that even if I was a polar bear. Brrr!! :)
You have an eye to catch the beauty. I love your photos.

That view looks very similar to the one from the Stage Neck Inn. My mom and I stayed overnight there Thanksgiving weekend. Beautiful picures. I love the swim at your own risk. Funny sign and beautiful color sky.
Just one more reason I really want to come up there one day to see sights just like that..err... but maybe in the springtime? :c) Beautiful Sharon!
When we lived in Colorado in 2003, my niece had a wedding in VT. It was September, after a miserably hot and dry summer. B booked us a room and my mom and step dad booked another room in the York Harbor Inn. It was a rainy weekend and the owners tried to apologize for the weather. We loved it because we hand not seen rain all summer and the break from the heat was just marvelous.
B and I are only an hour away from York and we go up from time to time. We will stop in the Inn for ale and something to eat. I now that path very well and it is nice to see it from someone else’s perspective.
Beautiful photos! It does look so cold.

I enjoyed the wonderful picture tour.Aren't we lucky in this country to have such beauty around us?
Very nice Sharon, thanks for sharing that. Do it again in that summertime walk...this summer...it's time to get it done!!!
Sharon,
I'm serious when I say this... I've seen much of New England through your eyes and lens and many others up that way. I really don't think there is a more beautiful region in this country!
It's all so marvelous and stunning.
Mary

Hi Sharon,
Your pictures of York Harbor are gorgeous. They are taken from my Dad's place in Maine. I'd love to talk to you about using some of the pictures for his VRBO.
