Roses and Pears

Recently my husband brought home some of the most beautiful roses I've every seen. It's hard to believe they actually came from the grocery store since they appear to be freshly cut from the garden. 

And the smell ... oh the smell, seriously amazing.

I love the way these came out, soft and subtle.  More of what I've been aiming towards in my still life images. Practice is an understatement.

I want to thank everyone who left well wishes for my husband and daughter after their skiing accident. Elise was very sore for several days. The pain that started out in her neck radiated down into her back, but within a few days we were at the gym where she did some very low impact cardio. It's been just over a week and she is back at 100%, thank goodness.

As for my husband, his shoulder and ribs were sore where my daughter slammed into him, but he healed up pretty quickly. My husband said he'd like to go skiing one more time this spring. Hmmmm .... I'm not so sure about that. Maybe if he leaves Elise at home.

All I know is I'm loving the warmer weather we're having! Our snow cannot melt fast enough!

 Are you looking forward to the time change? I know I should be but getting up in the dark again is such a drag.

When I shot the photos above Luna expressed a lot of interest in what I was up to so I thought you might like a little look into what was going on behind the scenes . . .

She'll eat almost anything. Luckily she looks cute because at one point she had a piece of petal in her mouth! Sorry, no picture of that.

One thing you want to be careful of is those fangs. They're long and sharp. And she's not afraid to use them. Trust me.

Sunday sunshine!

Our snow is g-o-n-e . . . for now. The forecast is for some snow mixed with rain tomorrow morning but thankfully without any accumulation. Spring is definitely a bit late this year!

All I know is that today was an incredibly sunny, blue sky kind of day and I embraced it.

This morning I was up at 5:50, the norm. At 8:00 I was washing windows, inside and out. The sun was so bright and I needed as much light to shine in as possible. My Sunday would have been perfect had it not been for the wind. I'd love to rake out the garden but the wind was blustery and rather bitter. The poor peepers aren't ever going to be able to peep!

Yesterday while at TJ Maxx I purchased the flower holder behind the sink (my faucet is rather ascew). It's au naturale and desperately needs to be painted. Since it was mixed in with a beach display at the store it's supposed to look like raw, weathered wood. I'm not a fan. I'll have to give it a rubbed look around the edges after it's' painted.

And this is my new iPad 2. Last Wednesday I just happened to get lucky and find one at a local Walmart. My girlfriends husband ordered one from Apple and they said it would be an 8 week wait! Holy cow!

While my husband and I were at TJ Maxx yesterday I found some several carrying cases to choose from in all different fabrics. I couldn't decide which one to choose so I bought two! They were only $9.99 each so that's not bad. The orange for Summer and blue for Winter. Or whatever. Now I just need to find a cover for the iPad itself before it gets broken. I still haven't taken the plastic cover off it for fear of scratching it.

When it comes to expensive electronics I really try to take good care of them and with good reason. My mom recently dropped my iPhone into a bucket of water at work. YIKES!!! Luckily I had the best Otterbox cover on it you could get or it would have been ruined. And with teenagers in the house, well, you probably know how that goes when it comes to electronics.

So that's my Sunday! That and a nap.

Back to School . . . Ugg!

It's that time of year. Time for the girls to go Back to School.

I can never figure out how 2 girls who are so anxious for Summer vacation to begin can be so excited to go back to class! It's not like they haven't seen their friends almost everyday since school let out in June.

So we pretty much did the shopping thing last week. Goodness knows why my younger daughter needs new clothes since her drawers are already over flowing! But it's a right of passage so we bought more. Since my older daughter will be a Sophomore in High School I finally had to give in to something I've been putting off for a couple years now . . .

UGGS!

Do you know how difficult it is to find the new Grey Uggs in a size 7? And by the way I now know why they're called UGGs, because as soon as I reached the cash register that's exactly what I said! Ugg! Of course Andria had to inform me that I wouldn't find them any cheaper any place else, and some of the girls at camp have 3 and 4 pairs of Uggs. Well la dee da!

Bonus: The box substitutes as a cat bed! Maybe they really were a bargain!

So besides jeans and maybe a new pair of flats for Andria, I think we've pretty much got Back to School covered. At least until I go back to work. Here is a little preview of MY Back to School project for Andria in the next couple days:

And then there's Luna . . .

Lovely Luna is no angel that's for sure, but she does the best she can.

Coming from who knows what kind of home, to me she shows signs of over stimulation and aggression. Sweet as the day is long when we went to meet herat the shelter (all a big ploy to break out!), that wasn't nessessarily the case once she arrived home. She doesn't like to held and only wants affection when she's ready. It's amazing how far she's come physically though since we adopted her 3 years ago. Over weight and shaved, top and bottom, she has since slimmed down and grown a gorgeous black coat.

And though she seems like she would prefer to be left alone, Phineas works on softening her up on a daily basis. He has brought an excitement and energy into her life that was sorely lacking. Of course she's still not going to snuggle with him anytime soon.
