In my previous post we saw the front of the Crane home. Now it's time to go around back and see the real excitement. The view is amazing!

The North terrace of The Great House is flanked with twin griffin sculptures, presented to the Cranes to guard their new home. One thing that is quite noticeable as you walk around are the busts and statuary, not only on the house but on the property as well.

The Casino Complex, Italian for pavilion or dwelling
So pretty. Wouldn't this be a wonderful place to get married? Well, you can! The Estate is available to rent for special occasions.

Part of the casino complex

A view of the Grand Allée from the house all the way down to the ocean. And we walked the whole thing, because you really have to if you go. If nothing else just to see what's on the other side of that hill.

An image my husband took of me on the Casino Complex.
You can see just a sliver of water in the background.

Above is the view of The Great House from the final rise.
When we turn around and look towards the ocean this is what we see . . .

Crane Beach, Ipswich, Ma.
If you happen to be in the area try to make it a point of stopping by. The grounds are open from 8am-sunset. Tours are listed online. Admission for the two of us was only $5 total but I didn't see that on the website. Of course if you take a tour it will cost more.

Absolutely gorgeous gorgeous place. That green lawn, that beautiful ocean view with the boats, that fantastic architecture. Carol
What a lovely estate! Reminds me of the Biltmore estate in North Carolina. I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE that place. I have visited during the Fall and at Christmas. Both were amazing! Now to get there during Spring to see everything in full bloom.
This looks like a place I would love to visit if I ever get up that way. Thanks for sharing!
Wow ! Beautiful estate and beautiful view. You did a great job photographing it all.
Oh, my word, Sharon. These are absolutely stunning! Magazine worthy, truly. And I love that photo of you! I am so glad you walked the entire route and treated us to the photos at the end. What a delightful post.
Oh I definitely did. Loved the photo of you, too, Sharon. I didn't know you had red hair. That place is really opulent. Didn't look like my back yard. Thanks for sharing. ha ha hah Susan

Gosh if I was getting married that would be the place. Then again I also envision a barn wedding. We never did have a fancy wedding.

Oh Sharon, that is a really impressive estate, I would love to see it, when we will be traveling to back to the New England State some day. Two years ago, we visit Boston, Cape Cod, Martha's Vineyard and back to Long Island. For the next time I love to see it in autum and then we like to go region north of Boston... when I see your lovely photos I could already start for the next journey
sending you many warm greetings
Bine
P.S. lovely photo from you
Fantastic! Love your beautiful blog.
Lovely shots...
I belong to The Trustees of Reservations and once got a tour of the inside - including the roof. It was a fantastic view.
I am always grateful I live in such a beautiful part of the world.
We've done weddings here. Bride's have the option of getting married overlooking the alle or Crane's Beach. Most choose the Crane's Beach view because the guests would be too distracted looking down the hill at that beautiful view! We've also had brides choose the Italian Garden for their ceremony.
We always decorate the scary gargoyle at the back of the house!
