Kermit Roses

My husband bought these beautiful, yet unusual colored roses for me a couple weeks after Valentines Day. The florist said they are called Kermit Roses, for obvious reasons I'd say.

It wasn't long before they started to turn brown and wilt, as evidenced by the picture below.

A few days later I was in a local antiques store and spotted this white ironstone sugar container and knew it would be perfect for Roses, Peonies, or whatever gorgeous flower happened to be in bloom, so glad I bought it! I cut about 1/2 the stems off the Roses, put them back in water and they've been in bloom ever since. Though a little brown around the edges they seem to be going strong after almost 2 weeks!

Kermit never looked so lovely.

Lovely against the china, too (red & white is my favorite).

Gorgeous roses. I love the china with it too.

the sugar bowl is a great find for flowers, looks fantastic. I've heard that if you cut the stems at a slant it gives a better chance for taking up water.

I love those roses and I love that sugar container! I need to pick up something like that. One of these days, I need to get a sitter and go into a local antique shop. What a find!

Beautiful and unusual color of roses. I'm going to look for them around here. I like the non-ordinary. The ironstone is great too by the way.

Beautiful and love the photo on your header. Been meaning to ask - Is that your beautiful home in your previous header photo?

Love the new header, and love those roses! And, of course, super impressed that hubby bought you flowers on and after Valentine's Day!

I LOVE roses and close-up pictures of them. And what a great idea to use a sugar container in that way. It makes a lovely vase!

The roses and the container are wonderful. I always see small containers and wonder what I could do with them. I just need to jump out and buy a few for my summer garden. Thanks for sharing!

They are stunning Sharon. We have some which look the same but I do not know what they are called.

Cedar, you're right about the slant cut. I learned that in Floriculture class back in high school! Looooong time ago.

Alyson, you need to go out and do a little antiquing!

Laura, you know hubby and flowers ; )

Hi Glenda, no, that wasn't my home. It was a beautiful old country home my daughter and I saw while out driving around after a snow storm.

Thank you ladies for the wonderful comments! I loved the roses but it looks like today is the day to ditch them.

Anonymous, I was thinking the same thing when my husband came home with new roses last night! But in the morning light they look more like Sunset Roses instead of Miss Piggy. You'll be seeing them ; )
