If you are ever find yourself in the Kennebunkport, Maine area do try to stop by Cape Porpoise Harbor. I have to warn you, parking is extemely limited in this whole area so you may just end up driving through, but it's gorgeous, absolutely gorgeous.
In the above photo we're looking out to sea and at the Goat Island lighthouse, built in 1859.
It was a bright but cold day making the water sparkle like diamonds. Nice that we happened upon the area during low tide too.
I intend on heading back up to shoot some more of the local area once it warms up. Also while my husband and I were in town very little in the way of shops and restaurants were open. How I longed for a bowl of clam or seafood chowder! It was not to be.
This immediate area is really all about fishing, though there are two small restaurants in the harbor, both closed for the season. Not sure where you would park in the summertime to eat at either one but I would imagine there might be a tour bus that comes through, or you could walk, or even ride a bike!
I still have more photos to share with you which I'll do soon!

Wonderful shots of the coast! Beautiful sky, glitter on the water - and an old lighthouse! Love it!
We lived in the Shetland Isles and it took me years to get over it. Miss the life beside the water.
Wow what a great location, fantastic shots.

Wow! Those are very vivid photos! The scenery is awesome, but a little too far north for my taste!
Beautiful shots! I hope to make my way up to Maine one of these days. Hopefully, this summer.
It would take a strong person both physically and mentally to live that life... the house looks soooo lonesome.

Beautiful photos, thank you for sharing your part of the world! I think I have a seen a paint swatch called Kennebunkport, Maine by Benjamin Moore! LOL! Just lovely...
I've been there, have a photo almost exactly the same! That area of the coast is a favorite. We stay at the Atlantic Motor Inn on Wells Beach. Thanks for the memory!
I felt like I was on a lovely sightseeing vacation! loved this! Beautiful photos!
I've been there too. They had such cute shops for me to spend my money in. One shop had the biggest Maine Coon just lounging on the counter. That is where I fell in love with that breed. I did eventually get one, her name was Felicia, and now she is waiting for me at the Rainbow Bridge.
Gorgeous shots Sharon!! It makes me year so much for Maine!
These photos are excellent. Makes me want to see Maine in person.
So pretty, I could just smell the sea air!
Oh I can't wait for it to warm up so I can visit the Kennebunkport area. You're right. So many businesses in that area are seasonal. Your shots are wonderful!
Your part of the country is so different from Kentucky. Someday I want to visit - it is really beautiful!
Just last night a friend of mine gave a program at our meeting on this very area. She had traveled there in the fall on a foliage tour. It was so wonderful to see a part of the county that is so foreign to we Okie's.
I would really like to visit New England at some point! Your photos are fantastic!
I love that photo which the sun so shimmers ont the water like stars. It looks so real. :)
I just love the Maine coast. It must have been freezing up there! Your photo's are beautiful. I'm dying to know how you get them to post so big.
What a magical sounding place Sharon, and what a majorly cute photo of you on your sidebar! :c)
Thanks for stopping by to see the Manatee...I did not see others feeding them....we were up early! We did, however, actually see them swim out to open waters after we gave them water! I just believe they stop drinking when they've had their fill. Have a wonderful day!
Great post Sharon...can't wait for more.
What beautiful images, from nature to nature and man, each one defines life forms.
Beautiful, peaceful scenes. Thanks for sharing these. I love your header shot too!
Are there really porpoises there on a frequent basis? It looks absolutely idyllic there.
