Nothing to fancy, just a wonderful old, worn out mill tucked into the woods, alongside a river on a snowy winters morning
Today I'm taking a 'Get out of Auto mode' camera class. Although I shoot some in Aperature mode the majority of my images are shot in Auto using metering, and it's time for a change. There are many tutorials (and we're talking thousands) on Youtube.com about cameras and photography but if I have the chance to have someone help me one-on-one I'm going for it!

...but....but...auto is just so darn easy! And why would they put that setting there if we weren't meant to use it?
What a lovely picture Sharon. I learnt "out of auto" mode by trial and error but I am sure you will discover setting which pleases you the most. I guess we all have different view points. For example as far as macro photography is concerned, DOF (Depth of focus) seems to be the "in" thing but I hate it so ignore what all the "experts" say and go my own way. LOL!!
Beautiful picture and I love that old mill. Good for you to learn other modes. I use auto most of the times too but sometimes DH tells me what I can better do. He reads the books and programs. LOL

Wow great image Sharon, I think this is one of my favorites (Laura is going to make fun of me for saying that.) : ) With your camera you will probably have an easier time getting out of auto, because even manual stuff is ahem automated to a degree. What a great goal, I need to try that too! I didn't excel at photography in College, just bracketed the heck out of everything to get that one shot. That was back when the film was free! (can you imagine...)

This image is wonderful!! Somehow, it sums up winter, with the snow blanketing everything and the resulting peace! The red of the mill contrasts so much that it really stands out.
