Sim Farm

I love this farm, and yes, it's owned by the Sim family. All of the following pictures were taken this morning.

Right now I'm very infatuated with Jon Olsens winter landscape photography collection. Though my photos are much brighter than his, I still find his work inspiring.

On Sunday morning I shot this farm during the snow storm. You may be seeing those pictures on my blog in the very near future.

We had a wonderful week-end of non-stop snow. It started on Friday and kept on snowing right through Sunday night. It made for beautiful New England winter scenery.

After a week and a half off the girls wished they didn't have to go back to school this morning. We all enjoyed our time together, Christmas was wonderful, and my oldest daughter finally got her license. She was thrilled. Now all I can do is try not to worry ... but you probably know how that goes.

Tomorrow I'll have all the Christmas decorations put away, finally. For some reason the new year is making me feel energized, something I don't normally feel in winter. Think I'm going to run with it!

I hope the new year is making you feel the same!

It is it is! I feel very energized to start this new and exciting year.
Your pics are awesome! We have been in a deep freeze here. No new snow but VERY COLD!

Oh how I love the colors of their farm buildings.. looks as though they put some real thought into making their farm a beauty!

Deep Freeze here too... I am needing some sunshine and warmth big time. Time for a vacation to Arizona later this month.

Great photos!!

I love seeing snow without footprints and tiremarks, etc. Such beautiful scenery, Sharon. We're supposed to get some of the white stuff on Thursday. I'd rather just enjoy yours!

Hi! I think what makes New England so different from Ontario is colour..as in New Englanders painted their homes and barns and made a statement of place. In Ontario, you seldom see brightly coloured homes/barns...don't know why that is and won't hazard a guess about British sensibility versus not British sensibility! Makes for great photo contrasts though!

Oh, yes. I know how that goes (with the license). And these are such wonderful photos, Sharon. So beautiful. We may get snow this weekend, too!

Beautiful photos and that snow looks wonderful.

I know it's not the same but they expect snow flurries in the panhandle (Florida) and by Thursday we could have them here where I live. Isn't that amazing? I hope we do. It's better than nothing. Oh, I love love love the snow.

Sharon, your photos are feasts for the eyes. I love big red barns, especially with snow on the ground. Your photos are much clearer than Jonathan Olsen's, I prefer the clarity in your set.

Hello Sharon. You captured the peace and loveliness of the farm! Isn't New England a great place to live? Yes, sometimes the winter is challenging, but I love the change of seasons and the magnificence of the landscapes. Happy New Year and have a great day. Lovely shots! And re: the license, I DO know how that is, as I went through it with three kids of my own. Now, I have one grandson driving and a granddaughter counting the days until a February birthday. Let the worry begin!

Ah, the parental worry that comes with the driver's license. It does get better...a little.

You guys have the best scenery.

Absolutely, perfectly New England! Gorgeous :)

I'm feeling energized too!!

Sharon, these photos are wonderful!! The best part of winter is the crisp air after the snowstorm has ended, and before the snow gets all muddied about!

Yes - worrying is normal.

These are very beautiful photos, and the farm is so pretty. I loved Jon Olsen's winter photos in the new issue of Yankee. Taking photos in the winter can be such a challenge, but his work is definitely inspiring.

Happy 2010!

This is exactly what New England looks like in the winter. Wonderful shots.

Beautiful pictures! Somehow there's nothing quite so picturesque as an old New England farm. I noticed the sun is out where you are. It's still snowing up here in the north country and I don't think we'll see the sun till sometime next week. It's absolutely gorgeous here but I do miss seeing my shadow.

I think your photos are excellent! The snow is not over-exposed, colors are awesome and the composition is great. Great job Sharon!!

I feel very energized just seeing these pictures. Such beautiful scenes. You truly live in an amazing place. I read your blue moon post and had to laugh....I was thinking the same thing....Cosmos moon from "Moonstruck".
Still no computer for me! Hopefully soon!

I'm glad you had a good winter break with your daughters. I'm envious of all the snow you got over the weekend! Most of it just barely bypassed our area of Connecticut.
I like your "wallpaper." It's kind of similar to my new background, only yours is prettier and more delicate.

I love the pics! Worry is part of the kids driving. We have 5 and I have learned that there isn't a thing that worrying can change. I did worry about our oldest one driving but now that they are all grown I'm just glad I'm not the taxi driver anymore!
