Nuthatch Yoga

For some reason the fledgling Nuthatches seem to find our deck railing a great place to relax, spread their wings, and practice a little yoga ... or so it would appear. Usually they do this after having a few peanuts from the feeder, or are waiting their turn.

These photos were taken on 2 different days. Please don't mind the fuzziness as I had to shoot them through double paned glass, with a glare, and then work them up a bit in Photoshop. They are too cute not to share.

Needing a little break . . .

After all that I think he/she feels much better, don't you?

These are simply adorable and cute photos of this nuthatch baby!! I just want to scoop him up and pet his feathers! Great photos!! I love when he balls himself up into a little fluff ball!

OK, here's what you can do for that glass glare. Buy yourself two filters. One is a Polarizing Filter and the other one is a UV filter. Together they shouldn't cost you more than $30-$40. You can read about these two filters and others here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photographic_filter I have them and I LOVE them. In fact, I'm going to buy me another set because, so far, I have two lenses and I have to keep unscrewing and screwing the filters every time I change lenses. I want to have a set for each lens and never have to remove them.

Sharon, what a gorgeous little bird. That first shot is so cute. I wonder what it's thinking. I love that it's sitting on the railing. You don't see that too often.

Thanks for the info on the Heron. I think you're right about it being a Louisiana Heron. I looked it up online again and another name for it is Tricolored Heron. I like the name Louisiana Heron better. Thanks again Cindy.

Oh, I love those pictures! I need to get more seed in my feeder. I have taken so many pictures (thru the screen) of the birds at the feeders, but now that the babies are coming about I want to see them too. I just struggled with the chipmunks and squirrels getting in the squirrel proof feeder. I love your pictures!

So cute. It made me smile to see these. Shooting pics of birds can be sooo frustrating. They just like to pose. Ha.
