I photographed this lovely lady on Friday afternoon on my way home from work. This first shot isn't that great but she's still as beautiful as can be.
For some reason the Mrs. has no Mr.
Where he is, or what happened to him, I don't know, but to me she seems rather lonely without a family. I believe this is the second year she has been alone.
All her preening has paid off. The Mrs. is stunning!

She is stunning! Don't swans mate for life? I hope she finds another one soon, I don't want her to be lonely! Loved the pics of Gloucester, MA, they make me want to go there as well. I get car sick as well as sea sick.
All I can think when I see these photos is tranquility. So lovely.
She truly is a beauty and so elegant.
There is a pair of swans living near my home, as well. It's a bit odd because I don't think they're really meant to be in this area. I thought the one was all alone at first and then a few days later I saw his/her mate. I can't tell them apart.
What do us independent women need men around for anyway? LOL!! These are one of the most beautiful birds of the world Sharon and you captured it beautifully.

Becky they usually do mate for life so I'm not sure what's going on. Normally there is always a pair on this pond but for some reason she's been alone the past year or so. There have been problems in the past with the male being killed in the nearby powerlines the are on the bridge, and though the town has done what they can to try to prevent it, it's still happened.

Carolynn, usually the male is larger. This swan isn't very big so I'm assuming it's a female. she had her eye on my the whole time.
She's an independant woman alright Joan, just like you! I'll continue to check on her as I go to and from work. Maybe the male is just hiding.

She's very beautiful. The photos are great. They look like you added a texture to them.
I'm with the independant woman comment. She's just come into her own and is comfortable being who she is in her own skin.... I don't think she looks at all lonely, but rather proud of who she is.

I saw my first swan yesterday in the wild in desolate woods in the middle of a beaver pond...I took photos but she was wayyyyyy on the other side with youngins.
I will post the pics later this week...but they are so far away they aren't nearly as beautiful as these!!!

There are no layers on any of my photos, though I would like to try it sometime! Basically I crop, sharpen, and adjust the color a bit. That's it.
Glad you all enjoyed the Mrs. I stopped by yesterday on my way home but didn't see her. She likes to roam around in the grasses also so I suspect that's where she was.
