I know these aren't the best pictures but everytime I go down to Hampton Beach it's been foggy or hazy so I did what I could.
Yeah, I'm not so sure the Blossom sculpture should have won either, but it is different. Goodness knows there is a lot of work in all of them! Tomorrow, June 28th, is the last day they will be on display. After that all sculptures will be demolished due to safety issues.

Yeah, I agree. I'm sure it took a lot of work, but some of the others are so detailed. I personally like the pirate one. They are all great though.
I'm with you and not at all sure the blossom should have won... others seem to have so much more thought, work and originality put into them... *sigh* oh, well. There's always next year, right?

Of the ones in this slide show I'd have chosen the Budha for first. So much work went into the face,... But you never know what the judges were thinking. Guess the flower was perfectly matched all the way around,.. etc. Fascinating.
I would not have picked that one either. They are all really wonderful, and the talent is amazing.
That was the winner??? Perhaps it was a rigged contest? Maybe they were going for the simplicity angle. I must say this was not my favorite. Oh well, it was so nice to be able to see them all so up close.

I am in total admiration of every single one of them.
It is too bad some solution couldn't be poured over them to preserve them forever and that they couldn't be removed and put inside forever to be admired.
It doesn't matter who won...they are all phenomenal!!!
Yes, Sharon, the fog has presented photos with unique challenges here in Maritime New England. You have done very well. Thanks for showing us these. I’m glad that they did not have to contend with rain washing their work away.
Thanks Steve, but I have to say I really didn't try all that hard. I just wasn't quite sure how to balance the lightness of the sculptures along with the thick haze and bright sunshine, as well as fog on a different day. I'd go down to the beach early (7:30 am) to take pictures but I'm thinking afternoon sunshine would have been much better.
Since all the sculptures are sprayed in glue they can withstand plenty of rain. Safety issues are the only reason they are removed. I read somewhere about a sand sculpture lasting 11 years! Holy cow!

I agree with everyone else about the # 1 pick, not my favorite either, but these are amazing and the pictures are good. Thanks for capturing these and sharing.
