Sorry to be away for so long. I've been busy ... tired ... grumpy ... sad ... lazy ... crampy ... cold ... the works, but it's all good now.
Remember the day I had to bring my husband to work early in the morning and it was REALLY cold? The day I took the pictures at Rye Harbor. Remember? If not you can scroll down a few posts and see the it for yourself. Well my first stop was actually at the beach, and it was freakin' cold! But I was determined to wait and watch the sunrise. It's been years since I've been at the beach when the sun came up. If ever. I'll tell you, if you ever get the chance don't miss it!
Since I know you don't want to get up that early (and who does?), or are landlocked, I'll show you what it looks like ...
I could barely stay out long enough to take the shots and this woman was going for a walk! She wasn't alone either. If you remember the temperature was around 0 degrees. Look on the right side of the picture you'll see the faint glow of the sun just starting to edge the clouds, getting ready to make an appearance.A few minutes later . . .
It's getting closer! I can hardly wait! It seemed like it would be there any second and yet I waited a few more minutes.
Until . . .
At last!
The sun breaks through and a new day has dawned. The seagulls applaud the chance to start foraging for another meal.
The glow is overwhelming. Ice cold but beautiful. The sea mist rises against a brilliant backdrop.
As I drive along the beach headed towards Rye Harbor I stop one last time where the sand meets the rocks to document a beautiful morning.
At last!

You should get up early one day and go see it for yourself, even if you don't live near the beach. A field will do. There were actually quite a few people at the beach that morning to watch the sunrise. More than I had expected. Good day sunshine!

I can only imagine the cold you had further north from me. It was unbearable here so I can't even fanthom NH.
Hope you get out of your funk soon. I too get like that from time to time and realize the best thing for me to do is get outside and away from everything that stresses me out in the first place. You need to take time for you Sharon and the rest will work itself out. I learned that through experience. ;o)
You need a house at the beach...... you seem to thrive on it. Fresh air, wide open spaces.... they do a heart good.

Thank God I have you to wake at the crack of dawn to document such beauty. I am not a morning person but maybe in the Summer I might drive up to Rye and give it a try.
Hey there I've missed you. I remember your pics from Rye Harbor. I think I would have problems getting out of a very warm bed to greet Mr. Sunrise on such a freezing morning.

Beautiful pictures, Sharon. It's quite different to see the sun rising over the ocean, as here in California, we always see it setting over the ocean. I admire your tenacity getting up so early and braving the elements. Brrrr...I get shivers just thinking about it!

haha and thank you about my crochet. I was laid off from Liberty Mutual in the fall, and have been unable to find a job in the economy... so crochet has helped me keep my sanity while stuck home hahaha

Oh how pretty. I just love sunrise at the beach. And, I love the beach in winter also. Something so beautiful in all that starkness. Something so hopeful...even without the crowds of summer tourists the tide still ebbs and flows.

Sharon, I love your farmhouse photo, and the photos of the robins in the crabapple tree. I have been watching a pair of robins fighting for "shrub territory" with the neighboring mockingbird. He still has his shrub and my pair has settled into the holly bush outside my front door.
I live not too far from your "flagship" falcon photos. When I worked in Worcester I saw them several times in the Main South area---drove the local bird santuary crazy--always calling them to report my sighting!!!
It was a beautiful day here today---but those photos of the early morning sunrise on the beach pushed me over the edge!!!!! We rent in Old Orchard and sunrise on a near empty beach is my favorite of all favorite things to experience. Each sunrise almost the same and always just a little bit better!!!! Your photos are terrific.

Just found your blog and very much enjoyed my visit. Hello from a fellow NHer-ite. I miss the ocean since moving to the mountains but will have to plan a weekend trip - when it gets a little warmer. Those sea breezes seem much colder than our mountain winds. -Sandy
