What a day for the unexpected.
On my way to work this morning I took the 'back way' and through a local wildlife preserve. There's plenty of Wild Turkeys, Deer, Birds and other critters to be seen if you have the time to look. So I was looking. Tracks were everywhere.
There, over there deep in the woods, snuggled down in for a rest were the most beautiful animals . . .
This one was hidden pretty well. There were 3 Deer from what I could see, and they didn't like me pointing the camera at them or the noise it was making. But it's a miracle I ever saw them in the first place and I wasn't going to pass up this opportunity!
This one is my favorite:
I love this picture! Within moments they had had enough so they jumped up, waving their white tails the whole time, bounding out through the woods. I wasn't camera ready, so no pictures. What a treat though. On the way home I saw more Deer in the woods eating but decided I would let them be. With the weather we've been having it's going to be a rough year for wildlife. Many will not make it. Finding food will be difficult and the snow can be overwhelming. Best to let them eat when they can.
And a few miles down the road this beautiful old barn. I have a thing for barns lately and it seems like they all still have wreaths up on their doors.

These photos are to die for! I love your header photo but then when I started scrolling down I fell in love with the barn. Thanks for this look at the world I use to live in!
Oh my gosh, Sharon! These pictures are sooo beautiful - use them for your Christmas cards next year! That is one fancy looking barn, and so gorgeous with all the snow around. LOVE the deer, and the way he is looking at you!
Very Lovely Photos!
Ditto to the comments above. I can't get over all the snow. I bet it's been 20 yrs since we got snow like that.
The barn is beautiful. I can see why you like it.
Thank you ladies for the wonderful comments. I'm just loving my new camera! How I ever spotted the deer I don't know, but they were so cute!
I do think the old barns of New England have such great character, and there are so many of them still standing. Hopefully I'll be able to capture many more to show to you : )

Living in Florida, and your photos make me long for snow. We have a "cold front" moving in tonight, with temps dropping into the high 40s, and folks here are freaking out. It's comical.
Oh gosh, that's hysterical! We aren't supposed to get over 9 degree's on Friday. I'll be wishing I could just stay home that day!
40 is like a heat wave! lol!

Nice barns, and all that lovely snow just ads to the appeal of the photos...

We are headed down into the 20's for daytime highs Thurs and Fri.

Oh Sharon, what a glorious way to start my day! Such wonderful images to soak in! :c)
Very nice deer photos Sharon. I really love that barn. I took similar pictures of an old barn while on my trip around the point the other day! I will post one soon, no wreath tho!
Your photos are so so pretty! Looks like you have a great camera. I don't envy you for having the snow - it is dropping down in the teens the next couple of nights! "Shudder"

I love brushes with nature. There's just something about deer that touches a tender part of my soul.
I love old barns too and these shots taken with the gray and snowy backdrop are stunning. I absolutely love your banner photo too. Is that your place?
I just swung over from Sunny Side Up to have a peek at your site. I'm very glad I did.

All of these are taken with the new camera? Looks like you are doing very well with it. Like the deer and I like old barns.

Amazing pictures..the barn with the wreath is soooo New England. But your ride to work sure beats the heck out of mine...All I see is the pike!
Loved the wreath on the barn. I never see that over here.
Such cool pictures. I loved the pretty brown eyes of the deer. It is amazing they let you take the pictures and not get too spooked.
The barn with the wreath pictures are also outstanding.
Sharon, I am seriously so impressed with all you are learning. How did you get your name on your photos... was it Photo Shop?
Thanks for your visit...I always enjoy you coming by.
It is always a pleasure to come across something like the deer unexpectedly.
Lovely photos. I love the deer pictures. They look so pretty in the snow.

I did enjoy your commute, very much! Those pictures are beautiful. I get thrilled when I see deer too. I think they're such special woodland creatures!
I just found your blog and I'm so loving the pictures. I would love to live in New England. The wreath on the barn is just what I imagined New England to be like!
I off to check out the rest of your blog!

Gorgeous shots, especially the barn! That HAS to be a Christmas card!
Glad so many of you enjoyed the barn picture! Funny how I don't really think much of it as I've driven by this barn for years. Lately I'm trying to take pictures of things I take for granted being a native of New Hampshire.
Finding that deer in the woods was something I have never seen before so it was a real thrill. A moment I won't soon forget!
Sharon
Great shots! That last one could be a Christmas Card...I LOVE it!
