Dragonfly du jour

I've had these photos for almost a month now so I thought I'd finally post them. And I'd like to thank Eve from Sunny Side Up for the identification on three of them!

Band-winged Meadowhawk in repose with wings forward

It seems like a fairly common dragonfly. I see them all the time and it's not very exciting looking. Still, it's a thrill to get so close and not have it fly away!

Blue Dasher

I don't know about you but I could swear Dragonflies smile!

Halloween Pennant

Love 'em! The colors are so cool!

Twelve Spotted Skimmer

Quite the handsome devil with the black and white outfit.

All of these were taken at a local Blueberry farm. They have a pond in which the dragonflies to reproduce in so they were swarming all over the place. I know there were more varieties than what I have here but it was a warm day and I'd hung around long enough. Aren't they awesome though!

Want to see more? Head on over to Steve's blog, Shooting My Universe. He has a much better variety than I do!

Blueberry morning

BB collage

This morning my husband and I went Blueberry picking for the first time this year. We usually go our separate ways once we arrive because he tends to go from bush to bush while I find one bush and stick with it. Especially if the berries taste good!

As I was picking he sent me a text … ‘Turkeys up by the trees’. I snuck down through the bushes and caught them just as they were heading back towards the woods. My husband said they had wandered out of the woods about 6’ from him. Dang those Turkeys weren’t shy! They must have been hungry!

BB frog To get to the Blueberry bushes we had to walk around a little pond. Frogs were everywhere poking their heads up out of the water, giving me the eye.

All washed up and ready to eat! My girls already ate about a third of the berries right out of the colander!

Since we’re talking ‘blue’ here I thought I’d throw in this blue dragonfly, an Eastern Pondhawk. It might look blue like a blueberry but I wouldn’t recommend eating it ; )

I’m joining Mary and her Little Red House blog this week for Mosaic Monday. I hope you will stop by.
