I know it hasn't been that long but it seems like forever since I've posted on my blog. So much has changed since I was here last.
My older daughter went to the Senior Prom . . .
I swear she has never looked more happy or beautiful than she does in this picture.
And if that wasn't enough to pull at my heart strings . . .
She graduated. I thought I might cry a river but all I felt was joy and pride. High School was a bit more difficult for my daughter than it is for a lot kids, but she made it through and finished out the last two terms on high honors. Way to go girl!
Lets move on . . . to this:
I stripped the wallpaper off my kitchen and repainted it. Now I kind of wish I hadn't. The new color I painted on the walls is okay, (Sherwin Williams Ivoire) but it's not a favorite with anyone. Oh well, it's whats going to stay for the time being.
My parent's kittens.
The stray cat they took in had kittens almost 3 months ago. Two kittens went to a home but my parents are still holding onto four! Although they are planning on keeping two of the kittens, neither one of my parents can bring themselves to take the remaining two kittens to the SPCA. My mom dotes on them constantly, adoring them all. This isn't going to turn out good. We refer to her lately as 'The Cat Lady'
My husband installed new walkway lights and I love them. I'd seen them on my The Blue Ridge Gals blog a while ago and thought they were beautiful. Diane was kind enough to let me know the brand so we ordered them on eBay which was MUCH cheaper than in the store!

In the midst of everything else I heard the news my dear friend, and fellow blogger, Char, passed away suddenly. When ever I think about it my heart feels such sorrow. Some people are taken far to soon and Char was definitely one of them. Her blog, ramblins, always evoked the feeling of a smart woman with deep thoughts. Char wrote about her daily life and travels, integrating her beautiful photography.
Back in January when my daughter had her tonsils out Char and I emailed back and forth as she told me about her own horrible experience with her tonsils. How I wish I still had those emails today.
One final note about Char's blog. On the side bar she has this quote:
When its all said and done,
all roads lead to the same
end, so its not so much
which road you take, as how
you take it.
~Charles de Lint
I hope Char would be happy with the road she chose. Her beautiful blog is a gift, left behind for all those who choose to embrace it.

Viruses ... oh goodness my laptop had a major, horrible virus. The kind my husband spent hours trying to get rid of only to have it rear it's ugly head again and again. Finally, the best way to conquer the beast was to take the laptop back to factory settings and start over again. Luckily I have everything backed up!
After I began to reload programs I noticed Color Efex Pro 3.0 Wacom Edition would pop up every time I used Photoshop. I assume it came from my Wacom tablet but it's never worked before. I like it though! The picture above and below were both edited using Color Efex.
So that's about it for today. Although my plans were to blog about the farm I visited in Rhode Island, that will have to wait until another day. I hope you are all well and enjoying summer. We're having rain, once again. If only Mother Nature would take it someplace where it is truly needed, like Texas!
Thank you for stopping by!

Sharon, great post! Your daughter is quite beautiful! I'm sure you are very proud of her!
Congratulations to her and to you too, Mum & Dad!
High school a great hurdle to have behind you!
Yes, so much HAS happened. Your daughter is absolutely gorgeous and I love her dress. The graduation photo - did you process that with a tilt shift thing going on? It's really cool.
So much in this post. So many kittens, too . . .
Hi Sharon...Don't know if this will post because I haven't been able to leave comments on any blogs lately. Blogger brat has been acting up.
Congrats to your daughter on the prom and graduating. Your mother's heart must be VERY happy.
Good to hear from you. Susan
The lights look great on your walkway. Hope you enjoy them as much as we do ours, although one of ours is laying flat on the ground right now.. Rowdy ran into it at about 50 miles per hour trying to get as far away as he could from the wasp that stung him. BAM... light was the first thing he ran into! Just one more thing on the 'fix list'. LOL
Congratulations to your daughter for sticking with it. She certainly won't regret it. :-)

Very beautiful pictures and a heartfelt post about your blogging friend. I thoroughly enjoyed reading your words as I'm about to call it a night and go to bed. Thank you!

Sorry to hear about your friend. I read some of her posts. So full of life. Tragic!
Congratulations to your daughter! She is a very pretty young lady. I wish her much success in her future.
I was sorry to read about Char's death earlier today. I did not know about her blog until today. :(
I have to say and wow.. she is . Your daughter is just gorgeous.
Your piant is very nice and I hope you get used to it. I hate stripping wallpaper and or putting it up. I hope I have seen the last of that in my life.Sort of.
Love the tole. I too had that in one room in my house and still have all the dinner ware. My Mom loved it.

Sharon, your daughter looks beautiful!!! I love her dress! You must be so proud of her. :)
And oh gosh, those kittens! They look just like our Jordan when she was a kitten. I would show my daughter your picture, but she would probably want to adopt them. Lol
xoxo
So nice to see your lovely daughter all dressed up for prom and I know your pride of her graduating. Congratulations! I think at my daughter's college graduation, it was mostly relief that I felt mingled with the pride. To know we finally made it to this point after many struggles and trials.
I've been so busy with keeping the store stocked I haven't been keeping up with many blogs or my own. So nice to read your always lovely and touching posts.
Cindy
I know what you mean Sharon. I click on the blog and just sit there staring at it. I am more and more coming to the conclusion that it was what it needed to be for me, but can't find the courage to make a decision, so there it sits. I am happy that I get to stay connected to you and so many others on a daily basis my friend. I did not know Char.. how sad. Maybe that's a reason to leave the blog up. We never know if that might be what is left of us.
Wonderful post! Ah those wonderful moments in a young life.... prom & graduation! Congrats to you both! she is beautiful!
And Char..... I still think of her everyday & very much feel her absence.
xx
Congratulations to your daughter! Those kittens are adorable, hopefully all will find good homes. I love the walkway lights...I thought they looked familiar as I have seen them on Diane's blog. I'm so sorry to hear about your blogger friend...I never visited her blog, but I love that quote...how true!
How beautiful is your daughter! Congrats to her on her graduation! Love the kittens, I can see why your parents are having a difficult time parting with them. Your photos are lovely.
I'm was sorry to hear about Char, hopefully she's in a better place.
Wow, busy doesn't half describe it. I'm glad you stopped for a few minutes to tell us about it.
Congratulations to your daughter. And, your Mom. *grin*
How could you not dote on those adorable balls of fluff?! You can tell her, from me, that the title "Crazy Cat Lady" is a title many aspire to, but only few are truly worthy of. Wear it with pride. *grin*
I didn't know Char, however, it's clear by all the tributes that I've read about her that she touched many lives. I'm sorry I missed out on that experience.
I LOVE the last couple of photos. Those are really beautiful.
Have a great day!
Hi, I miss seeing you here. Congratulations on your daughter's graduation! I like your new garden lights - very New England style. I agree about the weather although it's been nice here all week. I think your rain will be ours later on Friday and on the weekend. :-( Enjoy your summer! Pamela
They grow up fast, don't they. Loved this ramblins. Carol
