August begins

Hard to believe it's August 1st already! July went by fairly slow as it was a long, hot month, but once the page turns everything seems to change. Make the most of it! Enjoy Summer while you can, especially if you live in the Northeast like I do!

After the rain on a particularly humid day

~ AUGUST ~

Eat outside ... walk barefoot ... listen to the birds ... swim ... smell a campfire or burgers on the grill ... take a long warm shower after a hot steamy day ... love the one you're with ... enjoy the flowers ... play in the garden ... eat fresh produce ... dress scantily ...watch the sunset ... watch the moonrise ... really look at the stars ... be grateful for all you have

Anything you would like to add?

gorgeous advice....if you are down south like me, this month means trying to find somewhere to stay out of the 100 degree heat!

Lovely photos! And I definitely agree to make the most of it... especially in my neck of the woods. Realistically we could be less than two months from snow. EEEK!!

I would add "jump in the ocean"! I love to feel the cold ocean waters on a hot Summer day.

Love your new blog header. Where is it?

Great mosaic. You're right. Once August comes around, the air starts to change and Fall is not far behind.

I hope that August moves more quickly than July. This has felt like the longest summer ever!

I like your list as it is, at least for TN. If I were in New England I would add attend an outdoor concert, maybe go canoeing (we can do that here!).

Love your photo collage that includes the quote. I really need to learn how to use photoshop for more than cropping...

Make homemade ice cream, have a long chat on the porch with someone at dusk and chase a lightning bug for old time's sake.

What a great quote. I would add 'Enjoy doing nothing in the warmth of the sun; do things in winter when you need to warm up.'

Have you heard any forecasts for how good the Fall is likely to be this year and when it's going to best - fingers crossed it's the end of September for our honeymoon trip!

Mmmmmm beautiful photos.
How about
-fall asleep on a lawn chair with a book collapsed in your lap
-eat peas warm off the vine
-breath in the scent of the first few minutes of rain after a hot spell

Nine post. Summer is flying by way to fast. The children go back to school on the 9th - to early.
Have a great week.

How about adding 'shop for school supplies'. I love buying new notebooks and pens although I don't have any kids at home anymore. Here in northwest Canada it seems that summer is just beginning - cool, wet July. We're heading for Arizona in two weeks to extend our summer!

HI Sharon. Lovely mosaic and I love your new header picture. Beautiful.
Now at my blog you wondered if people do wear wooden shoes. Yes they do, mostly farmers and it is great for gardening. Holland is famous for its wooden shoes didn't you know. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X-ZFQQSvv04&feature=related
Hope this works. This is Holland in Michigan where there is a large group of Dutch immigrants do live. They have there yearly feast with clog dancing and what else. The clothes are still not of this time. LOL
AS I said wooden shoes are still used but in the olden days maybe 150 to 200 years ago and before that everybody only wore them. As a child I wore them during the war, they are very comfortable and you never have cold feet. I am not sure if they are all still made by hand.

Both a lovely photo and quote in your mosaic this week! I love summer but I don't love all the humidity we had this year..it took a lot out of me.
I'll add "Go on vacation" to your list of things to do in August! :)

I love the raindrops, and that little bee on her way to the flowers!

My additions would include:
Enjoy a sorbet, eat an ice cream cone, dangle your feet in a cool stream, row a boat, enjoy the beautiful hummingbirds, drink lots of ice tea and lemonade and enjoy the long days with the long shadows at the end of the day.
Oh, and enjoy the shade trees!

Paddle. No day is perfect without dipping your toes in the sea/a stream or the like.

Such beautiful photos!

I'm a fall girl, myself. I hate humidity! So if it's hot and sticky, I tend to stay inside!
