Sunset/Lighthouse Cruise Part 1

This should be a 3 part series. I took so many photos that there's no way I can condense them all into one post.

Last night my husband and I had the opportunity to go out on a Sunset/Lighthouse cruise. Weather wise it was a perfect with temps in the upper 80's and virtually no breeze. Just the way you would hope it would be for an evening cruise.

The cruise was through Granite State Whale Watch out of Rye Harbor, NH. If you look on their website under Our Trips - Special Events you will find a couple other special cruises coming later on this year. Maybe one day I'll get the nerve to actually go out on a Whale Watch! The thought of going out so far, 12-15 miles, makes me a little uncomfortable.

And right next to us .... out with the dog, in with the bumper.

I'll tell you, there are a lot of dogs at the marina that live a much better life then I do!

Looking back: In the center of the photo, on the horizon, is the small inlet of Rye Harbor.

Did I mention it was a perfect evening? The water was like glass, something you don't get that often on the ocean.

Okay, so my husband didn't want me to take this photo (even though he's the one who pointed it out) but I did anyway. Hee, hee. This lady was sitting just below us on the lower deck. Seriously ladies, if you're going to wear nylons with sandals and capris, do yourself a favor and cut them off just below the knees. Or wear Spanx.

I'd have to say, this is a 'Glamour Fashion Don't' moment. LOL! She still looked lovely anyway.

Betcha didn't think you would get a fashion tip on this trip did ya?

My husband trying to relax amongst the frenzy of photographers on board, including the one right behind him. He said it got a little crazy at one point. Must have been when the sun was setting ; )

Finally:

Where we're headed next: Isles of Shoals White Island Lighthouse

*Before I go, I wanted to tell you how I found out about the cruise. It was through this blog: New England Lighthouses. Jeremy also has a website called Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse where you can sign up for his newsletters. The next event is tomorrow with an open house at the Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse in New Castle from 1:00-5:00.

Sigh. I've said it before . . . your blog makes me homesick.

Beautiful pictures.

Very jealous of where you live and the convenience to the ocean. All the trees and flowers I photograph here are looking a bit the same. Time for a change of latitude perhaps, or maybe my attitude? hee hee

I would have taken the pantyhose shot too!

Was that last night? We took a ride along the water and couldn't believe how calm it was. Your pictures came out so pretty. And, I gotta say, what the heck is the point of capri's if you are going to wear nylon's with them? My husband would have walked away from me for the rest of the trip if I had taken that picture. He would have been so embarrassed.

Oh shoot! I just thought that I should have commented that those were my feet in the nylons! LOL that would have been funny.

Spectacular!!!! OMG the water was pristine and mirrored! And I can smell the salt water. I wanna be there, RIGHT NOW.
Gosh I laughed about your fashion tip...I mean, why on EARTH would you WANT to wear pantyhose with sandals?

Glad you are all enjoying the photos! Hip Chick, that would have been a hoot!! LOL! Of course I would have about died of embarrassment.

I didn't even realize it was a couple on the rocks. Initially I thought it was just one person until I pulled the photos up on the computer. Dang, I'm going blind!

Wish I could include the smell of the ocean with the pictures!

Wow, this is a wonderful record of last night's cruise! It was very nice meeting you -- sorry I was so busy and didn't have a chance to talk. Thanks also for promoting Friends of Portsmouth Harbor Lighthouse. If anyone living near the NH coast is reading this, we can always use more lighthouse-loving volunteers!

I start daydreaming that I'm there in your beautiful photos! Love the people shots you captured too, especially that couple laying back on the rocks. Lol on the nylons w/ sandals - she should be arrested by the fashion police STAT!

The sandal shot is sooo funny. I actually stopped and peered at it for a while - "She's not wearing nylons, is she?". Then I read what you wrote.

All these posts I've missed . . . when I first saw the capri shot, I wondered why her feet looked so funny. This is a huge fashion faux pas and makes me wonder about people. Sharon, your photographs are works of art. My heavens.

If there is one thing that bothers me it is when people where stockings with sandals! A Fashion don't is right. Your photos are great and it makes me want to take a sunset cruise.
