Sunset on the Exeter river

I can't lie, I love a great sunset! Especially one that takes me by complete surprise, like this one.

I had to go into town to drop off my daughters friend when I noticed the colors in the sky. I was afraid by the time I dropped off the friend and made it back to the river, it might be too late. Sunsets, sunrises ... they change and diminish so quickly. Brilliant one minute, gray the next.

When I see a beautiful Great Blue Heron I can't help but think of the horrid photos of the Pelicans/Gulls in the Gulf, dripping in oil. My heart goes out to them and the people who are doing all they can to save such delicate birds.

I've added a special place on my sidebar for blogs/websites I'm following that are all Gulf related. It will be interesting to see where the wildlife/fishing industry/tourism industry stand 1 year from now. Will they survive? If they don't stop that damn oil soon, who knows. The current situation frustrates me to no end.

Okay, enough of my rant . . .

Wow, that was on gorgeous sunset! I just love this time of year, don't you?

By the way, thanks for all your input on my watermark! It's officially kaput. LOL! Guess simple is the best for now.

The poor wildlife in the Gulf. It's so sad I can't bear to even watch the news.

I'm a sucker for a pretty sunset (and sunrise) too. These photos are wonderful. I think I like the last one best. LOL. I stopped at our riverfront this morning for some sunrise pics. Amazing how fast they change, isn't it?

Wow, gorgeous photos. It makes you sad to think of the beauty that once existed in the Gulf, and the devastation that has replaced it. My heart goes out to the wildlife that are suffering as we speak ♥

I can't stand watching TV when they show the poor wildlife in this oily mess! And it is hard to capture a good sunset - you do a great job!

A gorgeous sunset with a beautiful reflection on that calm water. I love the fisherman casting in the pink glow of the setting sun and the heron flying off into the colorful sky. All the photos just take my breath away!

Those photos were simply amazing and breathtaking. There is nothing more beautiful than a sunset. I feel the same way about the pelicans. I lived in Florida for a couple of years way back when and I just love pelicans. The poor creatures.

So beautiful! Don't get me started on the whole oil spill thing. It gets my blood boiling and there's little I can do about it. Very frustrating. Aaargh! When are we going to learn?

Anyway, thank you for sharing your gorgeous sunsets!

Wow! These photos are gorgeous..I would even call them breathtaking-and I don't throw that word around very often :)
I'm going to check out your blogroll, I'm about in tears everytime I see an animal suffering from the oil spill though.

Beautiful sunsets, love that one where the heron is flying over the trees, and the man fishing, the reflection is wonderful, hope he had a good catch in the fading sunlight.

So I see another "sucker for sunsets"!

Amazing photos of a gorgeous sunset. You are so right - one minute they are so colourful and vibrant and the next minute the beauty is all gone - until the next day :)

The light and the color are spectacular, Sharon! I like your watermark just like it is here.

And we're watching the news right now. It makes me not feel well.

Breathtaking, Sharon, as always. Like you, I am heartsick over what has happened to the wildlife and the people who live in the gulf region. It sickens me to no end.... Donna

Oh what stunning images, Sharon!!! And don't apologize for the rant -- I think the whole country is feeling that way at the moment. When I think of the greed and stupidity and hubris that went into making this mess, I could just scream!

What an incredible sunset! I have scrolled through it all about five times, and every one of these shots is my favourite! That is as far as I can narrow it down!

I was just mesmerized by your sunset photo! Loved the grayness and the glassy look of water - beautiful!
I've been on my soapbox about the Gulf lately too. My hubby and I signed up to be volunteers to help clean up, hopefully they call us down.

I can't get a good sunset to save my life. Congrats to you it's gorgeous. In the fall when I'm driving home when it's still light out haha I often want to pullover in traffic and take my chances but I never do it....oh I did stop along at a gas station once but you can image how that came out with powerlines in the way, ugggh

btw rant all you want....I want to jump up and down and scream my head off it's so frustrating!

Absolutely beautiful! You captured it perfectly in all it's differnt moments.

*We are ranting here too. It is so devastating and down right breaks our hearts. Some of the birds are coming to Utah to be cared for.
It will be interesting, actually heart breaking in a year.
