Where I blog

I'm doing something a little different today. I thought I'd join My Romantic Home for Show and Tell Friday.

Although it's not very exciting I wanted to show where all the blogging magic takes place. LOL! Yes, this is where I blog from ... my kitchen table. Exciting, huh? Our home isn't very large so there's no space for an office. Even if there were I'd still use my laptop at the kitchen table. It's just where I feel most comfortable with the kids coming and going. * Note my LL Bean slippers sitting under the table. I got them for Christmas and love them!

I'm a fairly basic person, not a lot of nick knacks going on. Plus I cleaned up a bit.
The table is simple, inexpensive and expandable. Perfect for kids and their friends, pens, markers, etc. Sometimes there's a tablecloth on it, sometimes there isn't. At the moment, it's bare.

I like a LOT of light! Darkness tends to bring me down. We bought the french door a few years ago and I love it. Beyond that is a full glassed in storm door which changes out to a screen come May/June. I made the curtain over the window with the intentions of adding tassels to the pulls of fabric in the upper corners, but never got around to it. Maybe one of these days. Previously the woodwork and wainscoting (paneling) were stained dark. Really dark. I painted it all white and my mom wallpapered the walls.

Over here is 'the table with the phone on it'. Yup, that's pretty much what we call it. No formal name. It's basically an old, cheap butcher block table we bought when my husband and I first moved in together. Several years ago my husband put plywood on both levels underneath so I'd have a place to store canned goods. Then I made the skirt to go around the outside, which is just about to the point where it needs to be replaced.

At the moment on top of the table (it changes all the time) is my favorite picture of Lily when she was a puppy, along with shells I brought home from the last time Lily and I went to the beach. Lining the bowl of shells is a wonderful cotton doily that was in a basket of champagne and crystal glasses we received when my husband and I were married. I still have the basket but pulled the liner out to use it in the red batter bowl instead.

Also included is one of my favorite transferware plates and flowers from the garden my husband picked. He's good with the flowers.

Hope you enjoyed seeing a little peek into my world! For more Show and Tell Friday posts head

Hi Sharon... thanks for sharing a part of your warm and wonderful home with all of us. Makes me want to get busy and clean mine up a bit.. get rid of a few of the nic nacs here and there. It would sure make for less dusting.

Love that your hubby is 'good' with the flowers. :-))

Your room where you probably spend a lot of time is very nice. I don't have an office either. I sit at a desk type armoire in a nook just outside the kitchen in front of the back door and next to the laundry room. Doesn't that just sound divine! I would love a laptop so I can remove my butt from this one chair and sit on my couch in the sun room. Love the toile skirt you made.

Hello Sharon. Your home is so lovely and warm and welcoming. A true definition of a "romantic home." I know when friends come to visit you have a pot of tea or coffee brewing and probably a favorite treat or two. No wonder your blog is so enjoyable, you have surrounded yourself with the things that you love. Sea Witch

Thanks for sharing where you post your beautiful photos! Love the toile. I am setting at my dining table on the laptop, but my table does not look that neat. :-) I need to get off the computer and put the plants outside in the sunshine.

It looks like a perfectly cozy spot there in the heart of your home. I like the colours and the lack of nick nacks too. *smile*

My space is a very cluttered desk in my 'office'. Too much paper piled around it. I'm in the process of spring cleaning/downsizing.

Thanks for inviting me in for a peek!

What a gorgeous, comfortable space. I've always loved wallpaper, but I think there's some sort of law against selling it west of the Mississipi.

What a cozy, cute kitchen. It is nice to hang out where the action of a home is, and with a family you can't get more central than the kitchen. We have a room with red walls, too. I love it!

I like your space very much. It looks tidy and cheerful. I tend to have a few too many knick knacks and continue paring down.

Have a nice weekend!

How beautiful and bright and cheerful. Our house is very tiny (7 of us here) so it seems every spot is occupied,, sigh.. I can dream of a spot of my own.

Sweet post. I like where you blog and it certainly makes you creative so it's perfect for you.

I don't have an office either. I blog with my laptop on my lap on the couch or occasionally at the dining room table or the kichen table, but, mostly the couch with 1 or 2 cats by my side.

Love the toile skirt you made and that adorable picture of Lily. And isn't LL Bean the greatest?

Love, love, love your home. Did I mention I love your home!

You can decorate my house anyday!!!!

I love how bright and sunny the room is. It looks so inviting. Less clutter is good for the mind - good feng shui. That picture of when Lily was just a pup is adorable!

I love this series of photos Sharon, and can see why it's the perfect place to blog. :c) Hey, I have the clog version of those slippers and have been through probably 10 pairs over the years. Heaven for the feet!
