In my previous post I mentioned the almost full Blue New Years Eve Moon sitting just off to the left in the sky. I thought you might like to see it.
On the lower right is the Wood Island Life Saving Station. How much longer it will remain standing is up to the town of Kittery, ME. Built in 1908 the Lifesaving Station is currently being considered for demolition because it is 'fundamentally unsafe'. Town counselors maintain 'anyone trespassing on the site could be injured, that there's been an accumulation of bird waste at the site and asbestos abatement may be necessary.'
We'll just have to wait and see. New England can be pretty stubborn about losing it's history though.

On my way home I stopped and took a couple shots of the sunset by Goat Island between New Castle and Portsmouth.
If only everyday could end just like this . . .

What beautiful pictures Sharon as always I love them
When you live near water, almost every day ends like that! We are so lucky to 'see' the glory of it! the lighthouse is a valuable building to save and I hope it remains for generations to come.
Wow Sharon - absolutely gorgeous!
Beautiful photos Sharson. One can never tire of a beautiful ocean view.

Beautiful photos- the first one, especially ♥
Wonderful photos! I have no doubt I've missed dozens of lovely shots by being a way so long... ahh I need to catch up!!
I Googled the life saving station... what a shame it would be to tear that structure down! I do hope someone will step up to preserve it.
Gorgeous shots as always Sharon!
Great shots! If I wasn't a native New Englander I would be packing my bags to visit Coastal Maine. But I am a native and my grandparents started out in Maine so it's always been very familiar to me.
Such beautiful photos -- that moon is gorgeous! Interesting about the Wood Island Life Saving Station. You're right, New Englanders are definitely stubborn about losing a piece of history. I wonder if some organization will come in and try to save it.
wonderful collection you have
Beautiful pictures. I'm glad New England is stubborn about losing its history especially since it is the earliest history of our country. But these old places can be expensive to save. Any fundraising going on to save it?
Sigh! Your photos always make me happy that I finally got to see the coast of Maine last fall.
Lovely shots! I do love that moon, and the colours of the sunset!
I just love the sky in these shots!!
I love your pictures! You are very talented! I am now one of your followers! ~Dan~
These are all so lovely.
Sharon, I love your pictures and am thrilled to find a blogger from the Kittery/Portsmough area. We were stationed at Pease AFB for our first assignement (circa 1976..our daughter was born there) and loved the area. We get back about every other year to just soak in New England. Will enjoy catching a peak through your camera's lens!
Breath taking shots Sharon!!! Love your new header too.
love that moon.....and save that lighthouse!

Goat Island !!! Gosh I LOVE MAINE...this is just breathtaking...
Beautiful sunset Sharon. We could do with a few of them over here to brighten up our grey, wet days. FAB.
These photos just calm my spirit and are so good for my soul. Thank you.
