About the time I took these photos I was supposed to be at a doctors appointment. Needless to say I forgot. Oops!

Settled in 1638 Exeter became a busy mill town. Though most of the mills have since disappeared, many of the colonial homes remain.

The sign below provides a little more information about the historic gold building that resides in the middle of String bridge.

I just love your winter landscapes. The snow is so beautiful and the shot of the colorful buildings with the icicles is just wonderful. Makes me wish I was there.

They are all beautiful - especially the 2nd one down from the top. We have enjoyed milder temps the last week, but they start dropping next week. Nice while they lasted.

Absolutely wonderful captures Sharon from the tops of the beautiful blue skys and clouds to the beautiful snow covered ground and water and all the wonderful things in-between! I loved the first one with the tiny pop of red from the building in it..but gosh these were all stunning!

i have never been to new england in my life, but your pics and your writings about the history behind the structures and towns is so very interesting. i almost think your writings are more interesting than your beautiful pics.
i was a history major in college, but changed it somewhere along the line.
anyways...the historical perspective is much appreciated.

In the UK, about 30-40mins in car from where I live in the South West, we also have a town called 'Exeter'.
A lovely place to shop now, with lovely characteristics by the river.

I miss seeing all that snow. The bushes along the bank all loaded down with snow look like they're growing out of the water....beautiful!

Julie, it does look like the kind of building that should have shops but actually it's just offices. I keep wondering how much longer the building will remain standing considering its age and some of the floods that have raged through that river! So far, so good!
I have to tell you, last Monday downtown Exeter really was just as pretty as it looks in the photos. The snow has held on pretty well but rain is going to get us on Monday : (

Hi there, its me again! I love these winter photos that you're posting. I am so bummed that I don't get to see anything like that here in Florida. But at least I get to see your beautiful photos. These images remind me of the many wonderful trips my husband and I used to take through New Hampshire (we live in New Brunswick, CAN). It was one of our regular vacation spots.
Oh, these photographs are gorgeous! I absolutely love how vivid the colors are against the snow in that second photo.
