Horsin' around

So often I drive down this road just to see what the horses are up to. During the summer there were probably 8-10 of them roaming the field or hanging out by the barn but lately I only see two.

The fence gate is wide open to the road so the horses can just run between the barn and the field. If they were my horses it would make me a bit nervous letting them cross at will, however there aren't many houses around so apparently the owner must figure it's safe. My husbands been by on his bike when the horses were just milling around on the road, not a care in the world.

Although I wasn't raised around horses I can certainly see their beauty and understand why someone would feel so much love for this majestic animal, though the work load must be a hefty one.

Call me crazy but I'd kind of like a Llama

I, too, would be nervous if my horses were free to trot around, especially across the road. Nice pics of the horsies.

Are these the horses you showed me that run across the road from one field to another? Amazing, so much freedom ... and trust by the owners! Love the images Sharon, it still looks like fall there!

I'd be nervous too if they were just strolling up and down the road. Guess their owner has faith in their ability to move when a car comes along?

I like the soft look of your photos today, Sharon.

Yes, my sister has horses.... she adores them, but me... well just can't see spending that much money on them or the vet bills they always seem to have. I'll stick to dogs for now. A Llama? Really?

Beautiful horses and photos. I'd be nervous too. Sounds like an accident waiting to happen but I hope not.

Have a great Sunday!

I think a llama would be totally cool! And that reminds me of a book we used to read my daughter when she was little -- Is Your Mama a Llama.

Enjoy your weekend, Sharon. Did you get snow up there?

I wonder why there are fewer? Nice pictures and I'm glad you had a sunny day to take them!

That sure is different Sharon. But sounds like they must be pretty smart horses...as long as they don't get a wild hair!!

I love your photos here and that last one is really wonderful, even without a horse...or a llama!

Love the horse photos. We used to have a stable down the road, and I loved going there from time to time to take pictures and visit the horses. But the owner closed the stable and the horses have all been moved elsewhere. I really miss seeing them all out in the pastures grazing in the early morning mist...

Horses are wonderful creatures...I'm always in awe of them...just also aware of how easily they kick! :) It is always lovely to see them though! xxx PS Llama sounds like a plan!!! xxx

I think llamas spit! I don't think horses do - LOL! I'm so allergic to horses. When we lived in Tucson, Ted and I went on a moonlight horse ride for his birthday. My eyes swelled up like a toad!
