Sometimes the picture you want isn't always the one you get. Especially if your about half an hour too late, as I was yesterday with the Blue Moon. I had hoped to be at the coast in time to see it rise above the trees on the horizon, which is when it appears largest, but I didn't make it. I still had some nice photo opportunities so I took them.
On the way home I drove down a side street just to check out the view when I saw this ...
It turned out to be a decent shot and a beautiful sight. I often wonder what it's like to live in a place like that on the water. Not necessarily someplace fancy but just a place with a view of life, coming and going, ever changing.
The moon was still a bit white but as it continued to rise it turned a golden yellow like in the photo below.
Last night was my only chance to capture the elusive Blue Moon since we are on track for storms the next few days.
I want wish you all a very happy but above of all safe New Year! My husband and I plan on staying in for the evening while both of the girls have plans with friends. We're just so boring these days.

Hi Sharon,
Beautiful photos! The moon last night was gorgeous. Between the moonlight and the snow, it was so bright outside. My cats were going nuts!
This home on the water is so pretty. I know what you mean about having a place on the water (nothing fancy) with a view of life -- the birds, the moon, the sun.
Anyway, wishing you and your family a very happy New Year. I am so glad to have found your incredible blog!
Erica
Two incredibly lovely images. Thanks for sharing them and Happy New Year!
I could get lost in your blog....it's so beautiful. I have a friend I need to send your blog address to. She's not a blogger but living in upstate NY she'll love your scenery.
How's the snow up there? We already have 4". Staying home too!
Happy New Year!
xo,
Carole

Too many clouds here last night to catch the moon... started raining very late and then this morning it was snowing.
THIS boring couple will be spending New Years Eve indoors here at home too in front of the fire sipping champagne and watching the tube.
Happy New Year to you, Sharon. I've so enjoyed getting to know you a teeny bit this past year.

They were all very stunning shots. You did a super job. You really live in a world of beauty.
It looks like a lovely New England Scene.
Happy New Years to you and yours.
What a great shot! Happy New Year to you all!
Boring is good for New Year's Eve...and peaceful, too. Thanks for all the inspiring photos. May your new year of life be everything you want it to be! Sincerely, Susan from writingstraightfromtheheart.blogspot.com
Boring is good sometimes. Especially on New Years Eve. Better to stay home in your comfies! That's where we are!
Your pictures are beautiful and I would love to move into that house.
Have a very Happy New Year.
Such pretty shots of the Blue Moon Sharon and I wish you and your family a very Happy New Year!
Happy New Year Sharon! Hope you get lots of good shots this coming year. Big hugs!
What a charming scene, a Blue Moon over a classic New England view on a Winter's eve.
Thanks for sharing!
Fabulous classic New England view complete with the blue moon, simply lovely. Thanks for brightening up our day and Happy New Year to you.
Stunning photo's of that beautiful scene. LOve your new header.
Happy New Year
We saw it in London too! Beautifully captured.
Happy New Year! Looking forward to more interesting posts in 2010 as I plan my September honeymoon in New England! x
Happy New Year Sharon! It's been wonderful getting to "know" you better in 2009. Hoping Great things for you in 2010!
LOVELY Moon pics!! I haven't been able to get out and get any lately.
We were socked in with clouds, and did not get to see it. A beautiful view for sure.
Hope you and yours have a wonderful New Year Sharon.
Hey Sharon,
It was so cloudy here that I couldn't see the moon.
Yep - I was layed off in Jan 09 and have been looking for work all year with no success. Things should turn around for me soon so that I can keep my home.
Happy New Year to you.
The moon, as always, is the star of any photo, and the house on the point is the perfect backdrop for it, but what I love the most about this one is the slight blush of the sky. It's almost like the sky is the shy wallflower just sitting there quietly waiting to be noticed.
Those shots are wonderful!! I love the faint blush of pink in the sky, and the geese? in the first photo! I think it would be perfect to live in a house on the water, like that!!
I am glad so many people have posted photos of the blue moon, as we have been getting snow since yesterday afternoon, and it shows no signs of letting up!
Have a safe and blessed New Year!!
That might not be what you wanted but it is beautiful.
Wishing you a fantastic 2010 Sharon. May it bring you great peace, joy and happiness.
That is a beautiful spot. So tranquil in that light.
All the very best to you & your family in the coming year.

Beautiful photo and scenery. Happy New Year.
We are boring too! We went to bed at 10:30 and the moon was so bright in our bedroom windows that we had to close the curtains over the shades! I love the pictures.
Beautiful photos, and I love the moon.
Happy New Year!
Loved these shots, Sharon...and your header with the little bird making tracks in the snow!
Hope your 2010 is wonderful!
wow...stunning...as usual...I want to climb into the photo! xxx
Any place by the water is sufficient - I could sit there for hours and dream...
That house is gorgeous, of course, and wouldn't hurt a bit to live in it!
Beautiful pictures of the blue moon!
Wonderful shots Sharon! And the cold seagull header it just so fun!! Great job!
You did indeed capture not only a beautiful moon, but the dream of an interesting life by the sea too!
Like you, I often wonder what people blessed to live in a place like this think of their fortune, if they appreciate what they have and if they are happy too.
Stunning photo.
