The Great Pumpkin ... but which one would you chose?

For the past several years the First United Methodist Church in Portsmouth, NH has been selling Pumpkins to raise money. Since I was working just up the street I couldn't resist stopping by!

They have an excellent variety and competitive prices!

My husband figured the grey pumpkins had been crossed with Hubbard Squash, but most of them were crossed with Gourds.

There is also a white tent filled with gourds and pumpkin-pie pumpkins

Wondering which ones I bought? I'll show you that next.

This year I'm partial to white pumpkins but if I were going for a creepy Halloween look I'd buy the gray ones. They almost look green.

Thanks for the sweet comment about my furbabies.

They sure offer a great variety of colors! I need one of each I think.

These are fanatastic photos that you took. I imagine you laid out on the ground snapping these at the pumpkins eye level. I see these blown up poster size and in glass architectual frames. Lovely. Sea Witch

Eeewuee. Some of those pumpkins have warts!

But seriously, you brought a wonderful touch to the photography. I've noticed a big rise in designer pumpkins this year. B was looing over my shoulder and got all excited about the shots. (Hmmm, she never gets excited about mine.)

Isn't it funny how picking out just the right pumpkin can be such a personal decision?

One of the women working there told me all the Pumpkins are brought up from New Mexico of all places! She also said this was the first year they've received some of the variegated ones, which by the way are my favorites!

Hi! I dropped over from Cedar's blog - and I'm glad I did. I'm enjoying your beautiful photos. My dh and I lived in the New Hamilton/Ipswich area for 3 years and it is simply lovely to see such familiar and beloved places. Thanks!

What a great variety! I would have such a hard time deciding as I am so wishy washy and love them all. My porch would end up being a fun collection of so many types!

You take such gorgeous pictures! I love all the different kinds of pumpkins. I've seen the white ones before, but never the gray ones or the white and orange ones. Pretty cool!

Beautiful photos! I just love those uniquely colored pumpkins...I found a light blue one last Fall and it was my favorite! Interestingly enough, it still looked beautiful in December...I don't know if they last longer or what.

Fantastic blog :-)

Beautiful shots, Sharon!! I remember doing luminaire pumpkins one year (those white ones), and using a hole punch tool, I created a work of art that I'd seen on the cover of a Martha Stewart magazine. I should have taken photographs.

My favourite shot is the last one, with the pumpkins covering the ground in front of the church! They pick up some of the colours in the stone!
I do not think I have ever seen so many different sorts of pumpkins!
