Update on Andria's 'Evoke Emotion' Photo

I wanted to post an update for everyone who was interested on the grade Andria received for her 'Emotion' photograph.

But first let me tell you, the teacher used her Photo as an example in front of the class, so I knew right then and there it was a good sign. She said he critiqued everyone else's but hers. Sure enough she received a 99 (A+). Why he couldn't give her that 1 extra point I'm not sure, but she'll take an A+! Currently her photo is mounted and posted on a large folding screen board in the school lobby. I can't wait to see it next week when we attend Open House!

The 2nd project she had to do was 'Color' and the pressure was on. I wish I could find the first picture she had which was actually a combination of 3 pictures, side by side, but I'm thinking maybe she never even saved it. It was very good even if she didn't think so. The second photo (below) she shot is pretty cool also.

Originally Andria was planning on turning this photo in as her finished product, but after speaking with the teacher she decided to go with the photo below . . .

Are you ready for this?

Are you sure?

It's a little funky . . . just like her . . .

NO it's not blood, but being the Rocket Scientist that Andria is *oh jeeze* she put Red Food Coloring in her eyes! We weren't home when she did it or I would have freaked out. She said even she was a little freaked out! The teacher told her not to be surprised if she has a little visit from the Guidance Counselor.

Andria hasn't received a grade on this one yet ...

Congrats on the A+ and in the lobby too? Wow! Okay, the bleeding picture is freaking me out. She definitely has the creative gene - can't wait to hear what the teacher thinks on this one!

The pictures are amazing! I loved the effect of the red food coloring..BUT IN HER EYES! Only kids who have a great bit of imagination (and guts) would do that and think about afterwards.
(Trully my mom would agree she is a kid after my own heart. Where is all my spunk now????)
She really has talent. I loved her first picture and the finished product was awesome! A+++
Sharon, I like your new Fall look! I couldn't even get my name cursive like you did!!!lol

IN HER EYES!?! My eyes hurt just reading that!
I have to admit that the photo makes me think of color more than the tomato.
I can't imagine how proud you will be to see her photo displayed!!! GREAT!!!

In all fairness the teacher posts a lot of the kids photography on the folding board, not just Andria's. But Andria said she's walked by several times and heard kids talking about it, and apparently the kids in class were pretty impressed.

Yes, she is definitely a left side of the brain person, no doubt about it! She doesn't get that from me.

Beth, I'm going to send you a cursive name code!

I am totally not surprised by her excellent grade. I can't imagine a picture that would have more impact than hers. She really is a very talented girl. I loved the squished tomato picture...it worked so well with the asphalt. The one she turned in is a bit disturbing...as a mom I too would have FREAKED out. But again you have to admire her creativity and style!

I stumbled onto your blog from someone else's. Since your blog name is so close to mine, I had to check it out.

Great blog! Beautiful pictures!

How wonderful for her and the proud mom of course. It is so wonderful to be able to brag about our kids. LOL!! And well deserved too!!

She is VERY creative! Im excited to see her next project.... Im curious, which artists does she fancy?

Sillygrrl,

That's a good question. Andria doesn't look up to any artist. She never has. She's never been into videos, movie stars, singers, any of that stuff. She prefers to do her own thing not follow other people's trends.

I always thought that was kind of weird when she was younger but now I think it's pretty cool!

I think i would have just used photoshop to change the color...that is if you were alound to use it...oh, my I'm glad she got an A or 99% because she deserves it..my eyes are watering thinking about it...hugs, lisa

Andrea is a natural... she has a grasp of composition and lighting far beyond the high school level.

She will likely get 100% on something before the end of the term, it gives her something to work for!

Love the emotion shot... the assignment ideas are very good from the teacher, broad enough for interpretation.

It does make your eyes water, doesn't it Lisa? Her's were bloodshot for the rest of the evening.

Thank you Saucy for your opinion. I had read on your blog that you used to teach High School Photography so I was hoping you would be able to stop by to look at Andria's pictures. She definitely has an eye for all things unusual and always has.

I'm thinking maybe I should take a photo class. It would be interesting to learn some things and find out what kind of grades I could get, maybe have my imagination sparked. I like Andria's photos.
