17 Years Later . . .

September 7, 1991

Our Wedding. It was a gorgeous day. The weather was perfect, and we had a great time!

This is one of the best photo's I have of Brent and I. The photographer lost all the pictures he took of the two of us together in the church. We still have all the group shots but this particular picture was the only one he had of just the two of us and it was at the end of the night. I still like it : )

Last night Brent and I were commenting on it being our 17th Anniversary today. I asked him, "Can you believe it's been 17 years?" With his quick wit he answered, "It seems like 27" lol! "Sometimes it does" I said.

Aren't we adorable? Back when love was young (and I didn't use tanning lotion) and we had no idea of the highs and lows that lay ahead of us. But I wouldn't trade it for anything.

~
I loved this mermaid style dress, puffy shoulders and all. Anything else would have overwhelmed my petite frame. The dress sits in a closet now; clean, boxed and sealed. Neither of my girls could ever wear it because they are both larger than me. Not that they would want too anyway.

Both pictures of me were taken at my parents beautiful home. I thought the back of the dress was so elegant.

Of course the day was rather stressful, and I was late . . . but in my defense I had to wait downstairs in the church so I couldn't hear the music when it started. Brent thought I might not show up!

But I did. And here we are, 17 years later.

When the girls were little it was the toughest emotionally. Both of us were always tired, but we never gave up. Brent and I are not the types to argue. We prefer to talk things out, so I think that has made a huge difference in our relationship.

Not to mention we both have a pretty good sense of humor.

Here's to the next 17 years and whatever they may hold!

Sharon, what a great post. I love the funny pictures at the end, but the photo of you in the dress facing away from the camera is just stunning. What a beautiful bride!

Happy Anniversary to you and Brent! Wow, there is no question that your girls belong to you - I always thought they looked like you, but even more so when you were 17 years younger! Beautiful wedding day pics. May many wonderful memories, and animals be included in your next 17!

Thank you. The wedding was wonderful but I ended up being terribly sick during our honeymoon with a nasty cold. We even came home a day early! I think stress got the best of me.

Wish I had some better pictures of the back of the dress, or the cake, or us, but I don't. My mom made the cake so I'm going to see if she has a picture I can scan and add to the post. And the hair . . . my hairdresser came to the house and styled all the girls. She did such a wonderful job. They were all beautiful!

Funny where 17 years can take you. I think our journey has been fairly tame : )

Hi! I just saw you over on Bloggety Blog Blog and thought I'd stop by to say hey! I am so glad I did. What a wonderful and inspiring post! I LOVE IT! But... how in the world did the photographer lose the pics? That would have made me sooooo mad. Glad you at least have one that is great.

Again, glad I stopped by. Hope you enjoy a wonderful Sunday. And... Happy Anniversary!

What a gorgeous bride you were! ARE! Such lovely pictures and a handsome bridal couple, then and now. Your dress was exquisite and the picture on your parents porch showing the back was, Wow! Anyway, hope you enjoyed your anniversary, even if it was low keyed! You guys are such babes, as we have been married twice as long and then some. Time does fly so fast. Congratulations and I am glad you showed up and relieved Brent’s anxiety:)

Hi JYL! Thanks for stopping by and leaving such a great comment! I'll be sure to check out your blog too : )

I'm not sure how the photographer lost the pictures. I'm assuming it was when he took the roll out of the camera . . . who knows. He kept calling his photos 'pitchers' instead of 'pictures' so maybe we should have known right off the bat he wasn't up to snuff.

Beth, yes we are still youngin's. lol! Someday's it sure doesn't feel like it though!
